PRESS RELEASE
DJ Doran Submits Petition for 44th Ward Alderman
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CHICAGO, Monday, Oct 19, 2026 — Dennis “DJ” Doran filed his nominating petition for 44th Ward alderman this morning with over 1,500 signatures, more than three times the 473 required by the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners.
Doran arrived at the Board’s office at 5 a.m., four hours before it opened. Because he was in line at the opening, he will be entered into the lottery for the first position on the February 23, 2027 ballot.
With triple the required signatures, Doran’s petition is designed to withstand challenges filed by opposing candidates. Objections must be filed by Nov. 2, and the ballot is scheduled to be certified by Dec. 17.
“My neighbors in Lakeview, Southport, Wrigleyville, and Northalsted signed my petition because they want real leadership in the 44th Ward and a City Council that answers to them,” Doran said. “I was at the Board of Election before sunrise because my neighbors deserve someone who shows up early and works hard. That’s what I’ll do for the 44th Ward every day.”
As he awaits certification, Doran will continue meeting with constituents and business owners throughout the ward to learn more about needs and to earn their trust and support.
